No-Limit Texas Hold’em Poker- Who is Howard Lederer?
Howard Lederer was born into in a family of five where he enjoyed taking part in numerous card games at a young age. He discovered himself becoming very competitive in these card games while playing his dad. After finishing Sr. High school, Howard decided to place college on hold for a little bit and relocated to New York to compete in some serious chess. While competing in chess, he was introduced to a poker game going on in the back of the room. Howard’s initial two years were difficult as he played countless hours and do not win a majority of the time. He made some additional cash by becoming an runner for the poker players. He believed he could better his game by adjusting his life outside of poker. He brought about an effort to acquire more rest and concentrate even more on poker.
The real advancement in his game happened when he started playing at the Mayfair Club in New York City. The Mayfair was a bridge and backgammon club where the the most favorable players would regularly challenge one another. He was able to access some of the best minds in chess. With their assistance, he would tweak his logical thinking abilities. Howard applied these strategy concepts to the game of No-Limit hold’em.
Howard also assisted his sister Annie Duke master the game of poker. Annie Duke was a great student of the game as she constantly asked questions about the right way to make the proper decision. He told Annie to head out to Las Vegas and compete in the World Series of Poker competition. Annie is one of the best women players the poker arena ever. Howard Lederer relocated to Las Vegas in 1993 and competed in money games for the subsequent decade. When the WPT grew in popularity, Howard made the decision to participate in more tournaments.
