Hold’em Poker Masters

Stu is considered by most to the very best NL Hold’em Poker player ever.

The 3 time World Poker Champ was born in New York in 1953 and began wagering poker before reaching his teens.

The young bettor started out betting gin and at the age of 10 had won his primary gin rummy tournament, while on holiday with his mother and father. By the age of 14 the little poker maestro had turned professional and dropped out of school.

In 1954 Stu entered the history books by succeeding ten thousand dollars in a gin tournament without dropping a single hand, a record which still stands in New York today.

The fast talking wiz kid has been compared, in poker terms, to athletic greats such as Joe Namath and Tiger Woods. Stu had a real skill for playing poker except in spite of his achievements in Texas hold em poker, he preferred playing gin.

Stu once said that there may several day be a far better NL Texas hold’em player than him except he could not see how anyone could ever be a much better gin gambler.

In ‘80 Stu Ungar was put on the world map as one of the very best Hold’em Poker players in the globe when he was crowned World Poker Champ for the very first time. Extraordinarily it was the 1st time he had entered the tournament.

The subsequent year he put aside any suggestions that it had been luck, by effectively defending his title. And in ‘97 Stu set the record by succeeding his 3rd World poker championship.

But this poker master also struggled with drug abuse and a year after winning his 3rd title Stu Ungar past away in his hotel room. According to physicians, he had died from cardiac arrest which was triggered by his lifestyle.

Stu had started out with practically nothing except his skill and expertise for the game which made this poker wonderful a millionaire several times over.
