Net High Stakes Poker- Gus Hansen
Gus Hansen enjoyed a marvelous year on the World Poker Tour where he was the only gambler to achieve last poker table in three of the tournaments. Gus Hansen has appeared on High Stakes Poker on The Game Show Network where he bought into the game for $400, 000. You may recall one of the largest pots in high stakes poker recorded history against Daniel Negreanu. Hansen secured a big pot with quads against Daniel’s full house. Gus has earned many televised poker appearances and is considered to be one of the strongest enthusiasts around the world. While betting on net poker, another side of Hansen has been seen. He regularly participates in the 200/400 No Limit max buy in of $40, 000. Hansen frequently buys-in for the min of Sixteen Thousand dollars and plays very weak. He waits for a good hand and then pushes all in. I know Hansen is a great poker player but not even close to the familiar players at 200/400no limit. Unless he is flat broke, he has absolutely no reason to sit at the game with the minimum buy in.
Playing for the minimum takes almost all of the expertise out of big stack poker. Hansen is presumed to be 1 of the greatest players in the world but he can’t buy-in for the total amount. I think television can skew our perception of the real world every now and then. The greatest players anywhere in the world could be guys you have never heard of before. Gus can be seen competing in internet poker on Full Tilt. He commonly competes in big stakes omaha eight-or-better and Holdem. Gus Hansen has shown himself as a competition player. Can he back up his abilities in cash games?
