Online High Stakes Poker- Gus Hansen
Gus Hansen had a wonderful year on the WPT where he was the only participant to achieve final poker table in three of the competitions. Gus Hansen has been seen on High Stakes Poker on GSN where he bought into the game for $400, 000. You may remember one of the biggest pots in big stakes poker recorded history competing against Daniel Negreanu. Hansen secured a large pot with quads against Daniel’s full house. Gus has made many tv poker appearances and is thought to be one of the best bettors anywhere in the world. While participating in net poker, a different side of Hansen has emerged. He often competes in the 200/400 No Limit maximum buy-in of Forty Thousand dollars. Hansen more often than not buys-in for the minimum of $16, 000 and plays very poorly. He waits for a good hand and then goes all-in. I accept that Hansen is an amazing poker player but not even close to the everyday players at 200/400no limit. Unless Gus is bankrupt, he has little or no reason to settle at the table with the min buy-in.
Playing for the minimum takes a majority of the expertise out of big stack poker. Hansen is accepted to be 1 of the greatest players anywhere in the world but he cannot buy in for the total dollar value. I think television can alter our view of the real world every now and then. The best poker players anywhere in the world may be players you have will not have heard about. Gus can be seen competing in online poker on Full Tilt. He usually participates in big stakes omaha/8 and texas hold’em. Gus has proven himself as a competition player. Can he back up his abilities in money games?
