Howard Lederer was born into in a family of five where he loved participating in different card games at a young age. He found himself becoming very competitive in these particular card games as he was playing his dad. After finishing Sr. High school, Howard made a decision to put college on hold for a little bit and moved away to New York City to participate in some big-time chess. While playing chess, he was brought in to a poker game going on in the rear of the room. Howard’s 1st 2 years were difficult as he played countless hours and fail to win most times. He earned some additional cash by being an runner for the poker enthusiasts. He theorized he might boost his game by analyzing his life outside of poker. He made an effort to get more rest and concentrate even more on poker.

The definite advancement in his skills happened when he began playing at the Mayfair Club in New York. The Mayfair was a bridge and backgammon club where the best players would frequently play against one another. He had access into several of the greatest minds in chess. With their help, Howard would sharpen his cunning thinking abilities. Howard used these strategy concepts in the game of No-Limit Texas Holdem.

Howard also assisted his sister Annie Duke learn the game of poker. Annie was a superb student of poker as she would always be asking questions about how to make the proper choice. Howard Lederer told Annie to head out to Sin City and compete in the WSOP competition. She is one of the greatest female players the poker world today. Howard Lederer relocated to Las Vegas in Nineteen Ninety Three and played money games for the next 10 years. When the WPT grew in popularity, Howard decided to compete in more tournaments.
