NL Hold’em Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?
Phil Ivey has been branded as the greatest poker player on the globe by many of the top-ranked pros. He was born in Riverside, CA and moved to Jersey before reaching turning 1. His grandpa showed him to one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was hooked on poker and wanted to discover every little thing he possibly could about the game. He routinely told his grandparents that he was planning on being a professional poker player. Phil did not allow the adverse feedback from other people annihilate his ambition of becoming one of the best poker competitors on the planet.
Phil started playing seriously after getting a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He practiced his game at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. The beginning few years for Phil were a teaching experience and coming away with a win wasn’t a regular outcome at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 WSOP where he made 2 final tables and won his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the last table he destroyed many of the well known pros including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
He decided to take his skills to the next level and headed out west to Las Vegas. Phil continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Phil credits his achievements to discipline and an immeasurable love for poker. Phil says that he’s learning every single day and is incredibly humble about his achievements. He admits to making blunders every single session of poker and constantly aspires to get better.
Despite the fact that Ivey has come first in some big-time tournaments, he prefers destroying money games on a normal basis.
